Forget Hug a Hoodie, Rock a Hoodie!

I absolutley LOVE hooded jackets! Even way before the government decided that hoodies where the feral ASBO youth's choice of uniform, I've been rocking hoodies. Hoodies being paraded down the Stella McCartney, Vivienne Westwood, and Chanel runways during the Spring/ Summer and Autumn/Winter shows was something I did not expect to see, but it left me anticipating the High Street's interpretations. However, the high street did not catch on to the trend in a way I expected them too, but I stumbled across a chic looking hoody by Forever 21 $19.80

Diddy's White Party

Once again, P.Diddy threw his infamous White Party, and the stars turned up looking all angelic in their white outfits. Among the celebrities that turned up, Mariah, Angela Simmons and Selita Ebanks showed up. Selita's Herve Leger body con dress looked hot on her, but I think Mariah's dress could have been longer and Angela's trouser's could have been skinnier.

I have always imagined what it would be like to attend the Hiva's white party. Making sure that you are wearing the whitest of white clothes (I heard that some guy had to take off his trousers because they were 'off' white) must be kind of stressfull. Here's what I would probably wear if (by magic) I had an opportunity to attend one of these.

Jamelia was looking electric in a Blue wet look dress, and you can't help but notice her chest-seems like someone is trying to show Darren Byfield what he is missing. Naomi Campbell (with Lewis Hamilton) was there looking fabulous in her black and white halterneck dress. Rosario Dawson (pictured with Kanye West) was also there wearing a red pin-tucked Moschino dress.

mini news: Pierre Hardy 4 Gap

French designer Pierre Hardy will be designing a capsule collection for Gap, and I can't tell you how excited I am. His designs are always so simple yet so beautiful, and this particular collection will be for the European section of the Gap company.

Rouge Lips

Red lips always add a touch of sofistication to any ensemble, and they are an accessory in its self. With it's many connotations, red lipsticks will have you feeling sexy, strong and very vixen-like. It was all over the spring/summer and autumn/winter catwalks, on models strutting their stuff for the likes of Valentino and Gucci, and it's even on the Red Carpet on stars such as Gwen Stefani, Scarlett Johansen, Beyonce and many more. Seeing as this website is for my brown sistas, you can check Rihanna rocking deep red lips. I'll try and look for more females of all shades of brown so you can see what shade suits you, remember the darker you are, the darker and richer you can go.

Happy 500th Birthday-High Heels!

The Metro newspaper this morning, wished the high heel a happy 500th birthday today (Shoe Express worked out approximatley that it is its 500th birthday today-even though they aren't 100% sure).

I have a love~hate relationship with heels. I love them because they look absolutley stunning, and the make legs looked toned, plus, being only 5'3" heels make me looks so much taller.

But I hate them because they can be a real pain in the backside ...and the heels, and the ankle, and the toe, and the balls of your feet for that matter. Because of this, I always always have to carry a pair of flats around with me to relieve my toes from that burning sensation.

So, to celebrate the the High Heel's 500th birthday, I have selected 3 of my favourite heeled shoes.

This weekend...

...was the Teen Choice Awards. I think it would be easy to get it wrong for an event like this because it isn't a very formal event so you don't want to turn up too over dressed at the same time, you don't want to look too underdressed.

Tia Mowry was rocking a printed dress with a pair of red heels and a gold clutch. I like this look, i do wish the shoes and the clutch matched... but maybe i'm just old school like that. Eve looked chic in a black shirt and trouser suit with a matching belt, and bag and she teamed it with a pair leopard print pumps.

Keke Palmer looked cute in a simple white dress and a pair of purple heels-got much love for my (sur)name sake. I wasn't feeling Monique Coleman's get up-i thought there were too many different colours, and whole lot of shimmer going on. Selita Ebanks kept it sexy/casual in a red bandeau dress and heels, with a black bomber jacket.

The mini Round-Up

Okay, so it's been a week since i started this blog, and I was a little slow with the updates but hopefully things will get better. To make up for it i'm going to do a little round up, so here it goes.

Alicia Keys appeared on TRL to promote the film 'The Nanny Diaries', whilst Ciara stopped off at Macy's to promote the Rocawear Ladies line. Letoya Luckett was at the Hip Hop Summit on Financial Empowerment in Toronto, Canada (picture from wire Image via Concreteloop), Rihanna performed on Friday Night Live and then went on to perform at Capital Live in London (picture from Juicy UK), and Zoe Kravitz was spotted on the red carpet with her beau Ben Foster.

Trench Coat

It's hot today in the big smoke so i really should be outside enjoying it whilst I can, but a couple of days ago it was raining outside and whilst I was doing my weekly browse on Topshop.com. I stumbled across this chic looking check Trench coat and instantly thought to myself that 'i've got to have it!'

I can't because funds are low, but a girl can always dream, so if I were to buy it I definately would be teaming it with this lovely belt seeing as I am a fan of waist cinching.

Wide Leg Jeans

Just as I was getting used to skinny/slim-fit/skinny-fit/drainpipe jeans, wide legs suddenly appear in just about every high street fashion retail store. I do not mind this, it just means i'm going to have to go out and find a pair of those perfect fit wide leg jeans. Unlike the skinny jean trend which I feared when it first emerged, I am a more relaxed with this one as I know as long as I find the right pair it will compliment my shape. However, jeans shopping is pretty much a chore as I and i'm sure you guys will have to find the jeans that:

-sit nicely on the hips

-flare at the correct point on the thighs

-are the right length

-have pockets placed in the right places

-are the correct shade of blue

...and if like me you have a waist that is signiicantly smaller than your hips, you're probably going to have to get them darted. Here are my pick of the three best wide leg jeans out there that are AFFORDABLE.
1.Button front wide leg jeans £25, Dorothy Perkins 2.Lux wide leg jeans $29.99, Urban Outfitters uk 3.Dark Grey Devi, Rag & Bone

Skins

When E4 began to advertise their new teen drama 'Skins' I was excited and I know I was not the only one. It was so well done, teasing us with little clips of teens going wild at a house party, and there was the music that i will always associate with Skins-The Gossips 'Standing in the way of Control'. So on the night it premiered on E4 i made sure i watched it, and even though i wasn't too impressed by the script and some of the acting, it was funny and it was great to see a teen drama that actually featured teenagers instead of adults (i.e. The O.C. Buffy, Dawson's Creek etc...)

The one thing that made me watch the programme week after week was the fashion. Each character had their own style that was quirky, interesting and stylish. Now Channel 4 are showing re-runs of skins-and once again i'm excited because this time i get to focus more on the clothes they're wearing instead of attempting to figure out the script. So every week, I will coming up with outfits inspired by one of the Skins characters, and this week it will be
